Prince of Persia is a next-gen console revamp of Ubisoft’s popular franchise. With a new cast and a completely renovated game play system, fans of the original series might
be a little hesitant towards this game. However, once you really delve into the game, you see the full potential the game offers.
You begin the game as a nameless prince, who is searching for his lost donkey. Immediately, you run into a strange woman with mystic powers named Elika. After a quick intro to the story you are free to roam the world of PoP. As you collect light seeds throughout the game you unlock power plates that allow you certain abilities. Subsequently, these plates also allow you to reach new areas of the world.
Rather than focus on combat, this game focuses more on crossing a variety of terrain. You are constantly using different controller combinations to run across walls, leap long gaps, and so much more. If you fall into the abyss you’ll find yourself rescued by Elika, at no cost to you or your health.
In the few combat sequences you are given a few options. If defeated by an enemy you will quickly be revived by Elika. However, when she saves you in combat, your enemy will receive a health boost.
PoP is unlike any other I have ever played. It is a platformer to the extreme. It’s very different compared to the former PoP’s, but it works so well. If you are into fast paced action games then this one probably isn’t for you. In any case this game looks phenomenal. I would highly recommend at least giving it a try.
