For all new students at Skyline College, here are some good tips on new developments in the cafeteria and bookstore in Building Six. The new cafeteria now has couches next to a fireplace along with a café, and tables scattered around for student seating.
Also available in the cafeteria is the Pacific Café, featuring full service food items including burritos, breakfast items, salad and refreshments.
When asked about her reaction to the new cafeteria, Melba Madrigal, an International Relations major says it’s, “Very very nice…this is beautiful.” However, Madrigal’s friend commented on the public microwaves as, “not pleasant.”
Also housed in Building Six is the Bookstore, which has been typically busy for the first week of the semester. There is a little better variety of small items in the bookstore which happen to be cheaper than in the cafeteria – snacks include chips, ice cream, soda, and instant soup, beef jerky and pop tarts.
According to an anonymous bookstore employee the soda vending machine in the cafeteria is cheaper than the soda in the bookstore.
Apple products are available, including computers, for a student discounted rate at the bookstore as well.
The deadline for books to be returned is at 3 p.m., January 30, 2009.
