With the Holiday season already in full swing, a fresh year is already knocking on the door mere weeks away. Finding a place to celebrate the various activities San Francisco has to offer for New Years Eve can be a headache, but start planning now and usher in 2009 with a bang! Here are some of the best SF has to offer:
o Embarcadero/Ferry Building Fireworks show – Sit across the Bay at Treasure Island or arrive early for a good view at Coit Tower, the official fireworks show of San Francisco is something not to be missed. Find your spot at any point with a clear view of the water and enjoy the night!
o New Years Eve Ball 2009 – Held at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, six consecutive sell-outs of the event is proof that this black-tie event is one of the most exclusive and popular this and every year.
o New Years Eve at Gordon Biersch – Featuring a full bar and champagne toast at midnight, the popular brewery is opening its doors to partygoers willing to put out $150 in advance. It’s definitely worth the price as Gordon Biersch is the prime location to watch fireworks show sitting next to the Bay Bridge.
o Holiday Ice Rink at Union Square – if you choose to stay indoors this New Years Eve, you can still get into the spirit by gliding across the new ice over at Union Square open now until January 4th. Or, for the advantageous, skate on the newly built rink until 10pm on NYE, and head over to the wharf for fireworks.
