Finding style and swagger for many Skyline students is definitely not a challenge. Taking a peek on campus reveals our love for fresh T’s, clean sneakers, and fashion accessories we eagerly saved our pennies for.
Welcome to the first of many weekly updates on the newest threads, kicks, and fashion. Shoe launches, new brands, clothing sales and vendor profiles are all fair game in this reoccurring column. You already have your own favorite sources and spots to hit up, we’ll see if we can uncover a few more here.
So, let’s get to it!
No proper streetwear article would be complete without mention of Jordan Brand. They have been at the forefront of the footwear and sports scene since the introduction of the legendary Jordan I. The latest shoe offering released by Nike was the 22/1 Countdown Package.
The white and black tuxedo theme should attract many, but the $310 retail price will narrow down potential buyers. Featuring interchangeable cushioning units on the AJ 22, cop this special two-pair collector’s item set before re-sellers drive the prices up. While your local shoe spot is most likely sold out, NIKE.com still has a few pairs left. Use promotion code BACKTOSPORT for a 20% discount, and FALLFREESHIP for free ground shipping!
Next up to drop is what many classic sneakerheads have been anticipating for years. This Saturday the 27 will be your chance to grab the coveted Air Penny II’s. The original Black/Varsity Blue colorway should be available to most major shoe outlets, as well as smaller boutique stores.
Vivid memories of Penny and Lil Penny (voiced by Chris Rock) come to mind, as the late 90’s featured the era of Penny and the Magic trying to dethrone MJ. Many true shoe enthusiasts here at Skyline should recall these classics originally released during their elementary school days.
For the ladies, check out the New York based label, Married to the Mob. Fierce with attitude and flavor, the clothing line mixes glamour with hood swagger. Created in 2004, the brand looked to fill the void left by many street brands focusing mainly on men’s wear. Taking cues from New York clubs, streets and parties, the clothing is designed for women, by women. MTTM wear is gaining worldwide popularity, where the ‘Lucky Bitch Track Jacket’ is sold out in both colors on their website (marriedtothemobnyc.com).
Lastly, a bit of local flavor by HUF of San Francisco. The brand has recently seen a huge surge of interest through their unique styles and exciting patterns. Quite a bit of the clothing is self-branded, where many customers opt to dutifully display the three letters. Whether or not you are a fan, HUFsf is releasing their Fall 2008 lineup, with simple but attractive button downs, and a new foray into corporate wear with brightly colored Pinstripe Oxford polos.
