While I wanted to love this movie because of stars Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, two of the most iconic actors in the past 30 years. But sadly I was disappointed. Please don’t get me wrong this movie is by no means horrible, it’s just more of a letdown. With a cast like Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, John Leguizamo, Brian Dennehy, and Carla Gugino you’d expect a good movie but sadly, nope.
The movie starts off with a video tape featuring De Niro’s character, Turk confessing to over 14 murders during his time as a police officer. From the beginning we see that Turk and his partner Rooster, played by Pacino, are willing to do anything plant evidence on a child murder to make sure he goes to jail. The rest of the movie is shown as a flashback with Turk giving a narrative covering him and Rooster trying to catch serial killer. From the beginning it’s already out there that the killer is a cop so the rest of the movie is played out like a cliché “who’s the killer?” movie and coupled with the dragging story makes a very mediocre movie.
