Karen Burton said 9/11 personally has not affected her because she has no family members affected by 9/11. Our economy has changed dramatically, gas prices have risen, we’re in economic crises, economic depression, and our country is in recession.
Levi Morris said 9/11 affected him during his time in middle school. A lot of friends told him about 9/11 during school, they told him of the planes that flew through the twin towers. He turned on the TV and was hearing 9/11…He said, he knew nothing of Muslims but after about three months of hearing the news talk about Osama bin Laden, he became aware of who and what Muslims were. He was a radical 13 year old kid, “who wanted to kick Osama bin Laden’s ass.” Levi said however, looking back he knows that it was a stupid way to think. He didn’t know anything about the government and how they were spending money. He said he didn’t know who was behind the attack, but it could have been a lot of people behind the attack. We were at war with Russia and Germany in the past. It could have been a conspiracy planned by anybody. Levi said he has a lot of friends around the world. “You get the American label of the war in the Middle East. And whenever anything is brought up about it, I’m asked my opinion,” Levi said. However, he says he’s a laid-back guy and tries not to concern himself.
Leisha Israni said she was in high school at the time and it was scary and the whole school was canceled because of the attack. Everyone was upset, crying, and calling their families in New York and New Jersey. She has family members there and she was concerned because she didn’t know where they were, were they near the attacks, or where they worked. She said it doesn’t affect her in the present because she doesn’t live on the east coast and she’s not there very often to know what it’s like being there. There is no doubt that the attacks on 9/11 were some of the worst atrocities in U.S. history.
