Get ready to crawl into the underground world of the funky fresh next generation of R&B with a little group (and I do mean little there is only one member) by the name of Wallpaper. Once again Wallpaper is one of those bands I found out about by chance when a dear friend, and former Skyline View member, of mine called me and said “Hey want to go to a show?” to which I replied “Most certainly.” And wah-bam I was hit with a face full of Wallpaper which is like being hit with a face full of awesome. Eric Frederic the voice behind Wallpaper plays sexy beats and smooth lyrics. The music is perfect for breaking down to, and in some cases on someone else’s body as well. (if you didn’t catch that, that was a sexual innuendo.) The song So Hot is one of those songs you can shake you money maker to, its got a smooth beat, and popping beats you can’t help but want to grab someone and start dancing with them. The song oozes sex out of any and all orifices a song can possibly have. From talking about losing other peoples wives to having diamonds in your cereal there is just something about the song crawls under you skin and triggers the “hay baby how you doing” synapse in your brain.Wallpaper is not signed to any label and Frederic is his own writer, producer, recorder and marketer who is slowly working on bringing back that funkified R&B sound back to the airwaves. Not only are his songs great but his live act is awesome as well; he really knows how to get the crowds motor going with his own slick stage dance moves, and antics during the modern day love song Text Me Your Love, in which he sends out and receives text messages from his friends right on stage. But I must say what truly sealed the deal for me with Wallpaper was the absolutely divine cover of Poison by Bel Biv De Vo, I remember this song when it was on the radio and how much it rocked (I just dated my self big time). There are some expectations here with a cover of this magnitude but let me just say this: he nailed it. You won’t find it on his Myspace page where you can here a lot of his songs, you have to go to a live show to get your grove on to the Bel Biv De Vo cover. If your looking to shake that ass, and get your hand clap on then for Christ’s sakes people check out Wallpaper.
