The movie starts off with Harry, Hermione, Ron and the rest of the Weasleys on their way to the Quidditch World Cup. Then from there, they prepare to start their forth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The story line of the movie follows very closely to that of the book, in which Hogwarts competes in the Tri-Wizard Tournament; a tournament which brings three schools together to find the Tri-Wizard Champion. Even with a strict age limit of no wizard under 17 being allowed to enter, Harry’s name still comes out of the Goblet of Fire proclaiming him one of the competitors. So for the first time in history there are four competitors in the Tri-Wizard Cup. So starts the story of trying to find out how Harry’s name got into the Goblet and what he goes through during the challenges.
The fourth installment of the Harry Potter films starts to deal with quite a few more grown up issues, like death and first loves, which explains the PG-13 rating it received. Fans of the books and the films alike will be very pleased with the latest chapter in the tale of the boy who lived after facing Voldemort as a child. It stays true as a book to movie transfer can to J.K Rowling’s vision for the series and has things for the people who have read the book as well as for people who are just movie lovers.
With action-packed sequences like the first task where Harry has to fight a dragon, and Quidditch World Cup, the movie keeps the audience on the edge of its seat for most of the movie, giving them moments to relax with sweet scenes like the Yule Ball, and some humorous moments between Ron, Harry and Professor Snape. We also see a lot of actor growth in this film; Daniel Radcliff, who plays Harry Potter, had some laughable moments in the third movie, where his acting was so bad it left my friends and I laughing for a few days. But this time around it seems the boy truly knows what he is doing and perfected his vision of who Harry Potter is.
I must say that my favorite part of film was Voldemort’s return. It was terrifying just like it was meant to be, and you can truly see why he is the most feared wizard in all the land To me, this was going to be the hardest part to translate from the book to the screen, but they did an unbelievable job of showing just how evil Voldemort truly is.
Overall, Goblet of Fire was a lovely addition to the series of Harry Potter films that leaves you wanting to see the next installment right at this moment to find out what is going to happen to our hero next.
