On Sept. 15 and 16 Skyline College will be offering two special workshops put on by professional jazz vocalist, actress, educator and songwriter, Ellen Johnson.
“It’s something we don’t offer here,” said Diana Cushway, dance instructor at Skyline College. Cushway says the workshops will offer students such opportunities as learning how to cut a CD, finding an agent, and making a webpage. “I thought that this would be a tremendous opportunity to offer our students.”
Johnson says the workshops will encompass both the art and commerce angles of the entertainment field.
“You want to be inspired, yet you want to know the nuts and bolts, so these are the workshops you should attend,” Johnson said.
The workshop on Sept. 15, “Building a Career in the Performing Arts”, will embody the whole business angle of a career in entertainment taking place from 12:30pm – 2:00pm in room 1111.
“Finding Your Own Voice” will be held on Sept. 16 and will comprise of improving singing and interpretive skills. It will be offered in the Main Theater from 10:10am to 11:00am.
