With rhythmic vocals, pulsing beats, rock and techno undertones, The Faint, brings the entertainment. The Faint sounds like The Clash thrown into a blender with The Cure and a dash of disco added. This band is perfect to dance to or lie in a dark room and daydream to.
Influenced by the likes of Duran Duran, Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails, the band, formerly a very indie rock and guitar-heavy group, wanted to make something that people could dance to, so they moved into more bass and keyboard driven songs.
Their album “Danse Macabre” has quite a few good tracks on it. Of these tracks, you should really check “Let The Poison Spill” and “Your Retro Career Melted.” They have some excellent rhythm to them and are great for dancing too; you just can’t help but find your self swaying and bopping around when it comes on. But that happens with many of the songs on this album. The album may have a dark focus on death, but it is still highly worth listening to, mainly because the instrumental parts of the songs are fantastic. These are beats you can really get down to.
I highly recommend The Faint to all of you out there in listener land. They are one of the few artists that The Skyline View staff agrees on, (a rarity in the newsroom), and can all get down to. They have a hint of everyone’s flavor, whether you like rap, rock, new wave, or pop. You should really check these guys out. They have a very clean and interesting sound.
