It’s been a tough season for the Skyline men’s basketball team. The squad showed a lot of heart in the last game of the season against Chabot College on Feb. 20, pulling out an 88-83 victory on the road. This was the first road win for Skyline this season. The victory pushed Skyline’s record to 3-7 in coast conference play and 6-18 overall. More importantly, this came against a playoff-bound Chabot team.”It’s always good to end the season with a win even if you aren’t going to the playoffs, it’s even better when it’s against a playoff team,” said head coach Tony Rafetto. Forward Daniel Robinson led the Trojans with a career -high 27 points and guard R.J. McCuller continued his hot shooting scoring 20 points. Skyline also got double-figure scoring from forward Sal Vance (13), and Craig Williams, (14).”Everybody just wanted to come out and give it all they had because they knew it was the last time this season we would have a chance to show what we got”, said Williams. The team will now look forward to next season in which they hope all eight first year players will return.”If we can keep some of the nucleus that we had this year going into next year, I think we will have good team chemistry which always produces good results,” said coach Rafetto. Next season will begin in November.
