The Skyline Trojans basketball team could not pull off a home court victory as they fell to Chabot 98-93 in overtime on Jan. 30. Opening the overtime period with the score tied at 86 apiece, Chabot (15-7, 2-3) went on a streak of six unanswered points, which culminated with a Jamar Tatum jump shot scoring two of his 18 points. With the score 92-86 Chabot, Skyline (5-13, 2-3) was forced to call a timeout. The Trojans tried not to be outdone as they rallied within three points 96-93 after starting point guard Reggie McCuller hit a three point shot hoping to spark a rally for his team. McCuller scored a team high 24 points in the game.”He is our three point specialist,” said Skyline guard Craig Williams who scored 19 points. “That is why we look for him in the game. He can create his own shot and go to the hole.” The Chabot Gladiators had a three point specialist of their own in Chris Domin. Whenever Chabot needed a clutch shot to increase a lead or get his team closer he was the one to make it. Domin scored 21 points in the game.”Chris is a very good shooter,” said Chabot head coach Tony Costello. He shot the ball with a lot of confidence.”Jason (Sal) Vance scored 23 points and had 10 rebounds against the Gladiators. In the first half Vance was the focal point of the Trojans’ attack. “I am going to go all out every night when I step on the court,” Vance said.Though the Trojans had a tough start in the overtime loss, they still played with a lot of heart.”I am just out there trying to get a ‘W’,” McCuller said. “Hopefully we can get it together the next game and come out with a ‘W’.”
