Inspired by a Trojan’s injury, due to an earlier accident that day, and her will to still play, the Skyline Volleyball team won three out of four rounds against Canada, Sept. 17, 2003.
The Volleyball team started there match versus Canada slightly nervous. However, it wasn’t because of there opponent.
The team had recently learned that one of there fellow teammates was involved in a car accident earlier that day. There wasn’t any serious injury and the player returned to the team that game.
Volleyball Head Coach Jan Fosberg declined to reveal the player’s identity. “I don’t know if she would feel comfortable revealing that information, all that matters is that she returned to the team and everyone was inspired and played harder in her honor,” said Fosberg.
The Trojans won the first round of the match 30-25. They would fall the next round 19-30 but take the final two rounds by scores of 30-18 and 30-22.
Coach fosberg was most impressed with sophomore Lily Bandong who racked up 24 diggs in a scrappy and productive outing. “She always seemed to be where the ball was. We really needed her energy tonight, said Fosberg.”
