Oh, the extremely hard job of being the entertainment editor. Music reviews, film reviews, and my favorite by far – food reviews. This particular week, I had the fantastic opportunity to dine at Don Pico’s Mexican restaurant in San Bruno. If you’ve got a craving for good Mexican food that’s also affordable, you need not look any further. Don Pico’s is your one stop spot for it all.
Upon entering the tiny restaurant, I instantly felt as if I had been thrown back happily to Cancun, Mexico. The interior of the restaurant is inviting and feels homey, with various paintings adorning the walls. Live music being performed by a man with a guitar also added to the entire Mexican cantina-like feel. After waiting little to no time at all, I was seated at a table and soon munching on wonderful chips and salsa. Once I was handed a menu, I let myself examine the choices along with the prices. The menu listed the usual items found at Mexican restaurant-tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and chimichangas, just to name a few. Aside from those entrees, I noticed that they had a vegetarian section. Salads, enchiladas, fajitas, and chimichangas are offered in a vegetarian style if you so choose.
After much debate on my behalf, I finally decided on a cheese enchilada and a chicken taco. Time flew by quickly, and soon my dinner was served piping hot in front of me–my cheese enchilada, a chicken taco overfilling with meat and vegetables, and a side of rice and beans topped with cheese.
The taste? Glorious. I got the most wonderful feeling of having eaten a lovingly prepared hand cooked meal when I had finished.
And was my wallet that badly hit? Not at all. Single items are listed on the menu as anywhere from 6.95 to 8.95. Two item combos, just like what I had, are $9.95. And if you’re really hungry, three item combos are $13.95.
Overall, this place definitely gets my two thumbs up .So if you’re in San Bruno and have an urge for great Mexican food; Don Pico’s is your place to get your craving satisfied.
Oh, the joys of being an entertainment editor. Ole!
