What’s the first word that comes to mind when I say sushi? The first word in my mind? Wonderful. But in your mind, it might be different.
Well, I’m about to change all of that. Yokoso Nippon. Yeah, you read that right. Yokoso Nippon is sushi at it’s best. A small cozy restaurant off of Skyline Boulevard in Pacific houses Yokoso Nippon. Of course, you might not think it’s much on the outside, but once you walk inside, you feel transformed. At once you are welcomed into a warm atmosphere with small intimate tables.
Upon sitting down at the small, charming tables, you’ll realize that you’re handed a napkin and a pair of chopsticks. Chopsticks?! Yes, those small wooden devices that are used to eat sushi. Go on – I’m urging you to be courageous – pick up those chopsticks and give them a try. Even if you aren’t that talented with them – trust me, it’s completely fine. I’m not a chopstick master myself, either.
If you’re bold and daring with chopsticks in hand, I suggest trying the maguro, which is raw tuna. Perhaps you could try the hamachi, which is raw yellowtail. If the thought of raw fish makes you a little queasy, don’t worry. I have some other suggestions for you.
A favorite of mine are the California maki rolls. Included in these small delicacies are crabmeat, avocado, and rice bound with seaweed. Don’t worry – the seaweed is grand. Another one of my favorites is the New York Uri maki roll. Seaweed on the outside holds together rice, shrimp, and avocado.
Still not interested in seafood and seaweed? I still have more to suggest to you darling!
Tempura. Yes. Tempura. Deep fried shrimp or potatoes are my absolute favorite. Carrot and eggplant are also a wonderful treat as well. I bet you never knew that carrot could taste that sugary, huh?
And if you’re still feeling a bit edgy about the whole fish idea, you can also opt for the teriyaki chicken.
Delicious food and reasonable prices – what else could you ask for in a restaurant? Now, I ask you, what are you waiting for? Go out and try yourself some sushi. I promise you won’t regret it.
