Baseball season has just arrived, and you know what that means: it’s time to pick up some gear! The place to grab attire of your favorite teams, you ask? Goodfellas on Haight and Ashbury is the spot to shop. They’ve got caps, shirts, jackets, and hats for just about every Bay Area team and more.
As you enter the store, you’ll notice that it’s split into two sections. On the right is the accessory department, where you’ll find sunglasses, coffee mugs, post cards, magnets and much more to make the task of bringing home a touristy gift an easy one On the left however, is where the action happens. The wall is covered with displayed Giants jerseys and T-shirts of various designs.
Just a little further down the wall and you’ll find the enormous hat collection including beanies, snapbacks, and fitted caps from Mitchell and Ness and New Era.
The hat attire include logos from teams from the bay area such as the Sharks, Golden Seals, Giants, A’s, 49ers, Raiders and the Golden State/ San Francisco Warriors, as well as other popularly franchised teams. A good number of these caps are custom made/ordered with different designs and color schemes, possibly making your choice to purchase a difficult, yet very exciting one.
Look up a bit higher and you’ll discover the hoodies, jackets, and sweaters with the bay area teams mentioned before made by primarily Mitchell and Ness, Majestic, and other licensed companies.
“It’s great to work in the city, and even better in an area as diverse as the Haight. I get to serve customers of different backgrounds and ethnicities, as this location is known to be filled with tourists,” says Sam Ayoub, the assistant manager at Goodfellas.
