Finals are around the corner and it’s inevitable that your stress level increases immensely. Late nights of studying, intense notes crammed on the side of your papers and turning in projects are what students endure during these last couple of weeks before school ends. Summer is what we yearned for after a week of Spring Break; this anticipation remorsefully contributes onto the stress. Relaxation is a necessity when times like these are among us. Now Skyline has a massage program in the Cosmetology/ Spa department in Building 4.
The new program of founded less than a year ago is now accepting clients on Monday night. Their 2 sessions are from 6:45-7:45pm and 8-9pm. Faculties/ Students of Skyline are given a 20% discount if provided with a student ID with their G#.
This is a great place to get an affordable massage and unwind from all the stress. The ambience is dimmed with low lights and soothing therapeutic music is played while you are treated with restorative strokes.
Massage therapists have been trained on various techniques from sidelines, sports injury to polarity massages but primarily on Swedish massage, which is the foundation of massages.
Prior to the massage, clients are given an intake to briefly review their medical history assuring that they’re safe for a massage. Massages available are a 60 minute full body assisted stretching, 60 minute therapeutic Swedish massage and a 30 minute seated massage. Unscented and hypo allergenic gels are used on patients instead of oil or lotion.
The students goals according to Jeanelle Diaz “is to focus on really satisfying our clients. Whereas in a professional spa, someone who’s been doing it for a while, you do get great work but I don’t know if their intention is as focus as ours. We’re so new and excited and that’s a difference.”
The students even insist feedback that would help improve in areas needed. After a massage session, you are able to fill a short evaluation form base on the treatment you received.
