The Unity Tour hit Mountain View, CA at The Shoreline Amphitheater on Friday, August 31. And when I say hit, I mean hit with smooth sounds of vocals and crazy percussion.
Slightly Stoopid’s set was filled with energy, but the real highlight was when they introduced each of the band members and everybody killed their solo. Rymo and O.G. were brilliant during their set, ac¬companied with their drums, con¬gas, timpani and all.
311 then took the stage in front of a huge crowd. The lawn section of the amphitheater was packed, light¬ers in the air and all the attention any artist could ask for throughout their set. Though the group has been together since 1990, their energy was that of the crowd.
The group was excited and over¬joyed to be amidst their very loyal fans. “Amber”, being their most known hit, was nowhere to be found during their appearance. After the various thanks yous, good-byes, and a crowd still waiting in the shad¬ows of stage lights, the song finally came.
The sound of lead singer Nick Hexum singing “Rainstorms, keep me away from the norm…” and the lawn lights set for raucous screams from the audience. 311 couldn’t have ended it any better than following up with “All Mixed Up”. They did not let their fans down.
The Unity Tour 2012 had to have been one of the most laid back concerts I’ve been to, with the most tolerable and relaxing fans.
