Coach Saucedo re-energizes soccer program
“Really good leadership here, the whole package,” Coach Saucedo said, on what appealed to him at Skyline. “The academics here are strong. Leadership within the kinesiology department. And the soccer facility here at Skyline is really second to none.”
Coach Gabe Saucedo brings a championship resume to Skyline’s soccer program, after multiple Coast Conference championships with City College of San Francisco.
Saucedo also serves as a staff coach for The San Francisco Elite Academy which competes against the U.S Soccer Development Academy and National Premier League. Coach Saucedo will bring in a higher level of expectation. His previous coaching experience as head coach for St. Ignatius College Preparatory and Loyola High School of Los Angeles.
While coach Saucedo enters his first season as Skyline’s head coach, he leaves behind 11 years coaching at City College, making multiple state playoff appearances between 2005 and 2016.

The men’s soccer program will be re-energized with its brand new coach. After just one game against Gavilan college, you can tell that he has the team’s attention and trust.
The team now plays a pressure heavy defense that matches the way the coach is on the field.
“He’s intense and wants what’s best for the team,” Dean of Athletics Joseph Morello said. “Everything is see and go for now but I see things working out.”
When attending games coach Saucedo is noticeably more vocal than opposing coaches. His intensity for the game sets the tone for his team as they feed off the energy.
“He wants us to be really competitive,” wing player Rodriguez said. “We play at a competitive level so we should practice competitively.”
The fans can expect a good brand of soccer this season with Saucedo taking charge. His previous coaching experience and style of play promises fans with competitive play.
“One hundred percent effort every game,” Saucedo said about their style of play. “We will put together a good brand of soccer, some good possession soccer, exciting soccer where were scoring goals and running the field well.”
With high energy players led by a fiery coach, fans should expect competitive play from our team this year.
