Former Skyline basketball standout Kelly Huey has been named 2012 California Community College Athletic Association Female Scholar Athlete of the Year. Huey was selected from a field of over 27,000 California community college student-athletes and is the first Skyline student to receive the honor in the award’s 29-year history.
In her two years at Skyline, Huey compiled a 4.0 GPA while leading the women’s basketball team in scoring and assists en route to a first team all-conference selection in the powerhouse Coast Conference: North Division. Huey was awarded consecutive Most Valuable Player awards for the Trojans.
She accepted an athletic scholarship to play basketball at Concordia University in Portland, Oregon and is currently pursuing a degree in Nursing.
The award will be presented Mar. 27 in San Mateo at the Marriott Hotel in San Mateo.
