The Trojans faced the Hartnell Panthers for the third time this year on Thursday, April 12 and lost 8-5. It was their third loss against the Panthers this year.
The Panthers got on the board quickly in the top of the first inning with three runs off of Trojans pitcher Julian Merryweather. He continued in the game for 7.1 innings and gave up six runs for the day. Dan Molieri came in during the middle of the eighth inning, faced six batters, and gave up three hits and two runs for the day.
In the bottom of the first the Trojans answered back scoring four runs in the inning. Matt Page hit a two-run homerun to help give the Trojans a 4-3 lead into the second. The Trojans scored their final run in the fifth; and then in the eighth and ninth innings the Panthers scored five runs to lead 8-5 going into the bottom of the ninth.
Panther pitcher Dillon Given pitched through all nine innings giving up five earned runs, striking out four and giving up the only homerun.
The Trojans next game is on Saturday, April 14 at Gilroy and on Tuesday, April 17 they will return home to play Cabrillo College.
