Get a hot body and good grades this spring semester with one of the physical education classes being offered here at Skyline. Between class lectures and homework, your body can feel too worked and tired to hit the gym, so next semester kill two birds with one stone and get exercising off your list of things to do before you leave campus. If getting in shape is your new year’s resolution, make it a success and do it at Skyline.
If your schedule is restricted, Fitness Academy is right up your alley, allowing you to get your required hours by dropping into the weight room during their open hours and working out.
Skyline Baseball athlete Chris Ramirez has been working out in the weight room the past couple of semesters and has been seeing results.
“Both arms are getting bigger,” Ramirez said. “If you work, you’ll get in shape, and stronger.”
The weight room is available in the morning into the early afternoon, and for a couple hours in the evening Monday through Thursday, Friday open until noon. The weight room has equipment for cardio such as treadmills, elliptical machines, and stair masters, and numerous weight lifting equipments to choose from.
And if weight lifting equipment is what you normally use, Adult Conditioning is a choice class, focusing on building muscle. Class meets Mondays and Wednesdays, with one hour a week weight room time.
Results are hot also with Skyline student Jordan Pang, who also works out regularly at the weight room and has both lost body fat and gained muscle. “I went from 5% body fat to about 3%, and my weight went up since working out.”
Weight room supervisor Luke Burgo adds hope to those seeking results. “There’s about 20 weeks until spring break. Once you start working out you may drop 1 to 2lbs a week, so it’s possible to lose 20lbs before spring break.’ To lose weight, he a course high in cardio, like Spinning.
If what you want is for another pound to bite the dust, then taking Spinning next semester with Coach Mike Fitzgerald will help to do that while having fun. With dance mash-ups of Queen blasting in the background, you can count on dripping some sweat by the end of class.
