With the beginning of the new semester, it is time for a new Editor in Chief to take over. So please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Aaron Washington and I am the new Editor in Chief of The Skyline View. This is my third semester on staff. Previously I was Entertainment Editor and Social Media Editor. While I am not new to this newspaper, I feel it is important to introduce myself to the student body.

When it comes to this newspaper as a whole, we have a long standing tradition of producing a quality newspaper on a bi-weekly basis. I do not intend to change that at all, I just want to tweak some things. Changing the culture around this newspaper is one of my main goals. A lot of times when we are producing one of our newspapers, certain things get lost in the shuffle during the madness of students sitting in front of computers for hours. This can lead to mistakes being made in the paper, which cannot be fixed once it is in print. We are not a perfectly tuned machine at this point in time, but I would like to push us closer to that. My other main goal is increasing the input of the students.

In the past, I feel that there has been a certain disconnect between the staff of The Skyline View and the student body. Maybe it’s just my new found ability to over analyze everything that I do, but I want to break down that wall between the newspaper and students. With that said, I am opening myself to the public. I fully intend to make The Skyline View more for the students. We have the largest staff that I have seen in my time on this paper, so we have the ability to push this forward. But for that to happen, we need feedback from the students. Our email account is always open to suggestions, from students as well as the faculty. While all ideas may not be good ones, all ideas are meant to create much needed conversations.
