Cañada College supports every student preparing to transfer to a 4-year college by offering various opportunities, counseling and advice.

Cañada College staff help students identify necessary classes for transfer, develop education plans, offer a variety of workshops for transferring, and host job fairs for students to attend.

Sophomore Hanna Bender said Cañada helped her transfer goal and hopes to be accepted into a 4-year college.

“I think Cañada College has helped me greatly in my goal of wanting to transfer in two years as I am applying this fall, and God willing, I will be able to get into a good school!” Bender said.

Sophomore Arlin Chicas said one of the programs at Cañada College helped her with transferring.

“Cañada College has helped me transfer by using a program called Colts U-transfer,” Chicas said. “It offers programs and services to prepare you to transition to a university.”

Sophomore Rana Abuirbaileh said Cañada brought a useful academic support system that prepared her for transferring.

“Cañada College has provided a strong academic foundation and support system that has greatly facilitated my transfer process,” Abuirbaileh said. “The personalized advising and resources available have helped me identify the right transfer pathways and institutions that align with my goals.”

Chicas said counselors at Cañada listen to what students need and provide guidance and motivation to students.

“Counselors provide advice and motivation to help you transfer to the 4-year transfer you want,” Chicas said. “They are respectful and understanding and understand how we struggle because they have been in our shoes. They will help you get the classes you need to take in order to graduate and get the major you want.”

Abuirbaileh said her English classes have helped her prepare for a 4-year college and make her think elaborately.

“Courses such as critical thinking, writing, and introductory courses in my intended major have been particularly helpful in preparing me for a 4-year college,” Abuirbaileh said. “These classes have not only strengthened my academic skills but also taught me how to engage with complex material and think critically—skills that are essential for success in a university setting.”

Bender said that Cañada’s classes have helped her gain skills.

“I think the classes at Cañada that have personally prepared me are my Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, and Microbiology, have helped me a lot as they have taught me time management and effective study strategies,” Bender said.

Abuirbaileh said that Cañada College has many workshops for students to prepare for transfer.

“Cañada College offers various workshops and events specifically designed to prepare students for transferring,” Abuirbaileh said. “These include transfer fairs, application workshops, and information sessions on various universities, which provide valuable insights into the transfer process and requirements.”

Cañada College has a wide range of opportunities and jobs for students on campus and prepares students to transfer.

“I recommend Cañada College because they have so many opportunities to help you not only academically, but economically too,” Chicas said. “They even provide work study for students that need a flexible job to work and do homework [on campus]. Cañada College is open for everyone!”
