This semester there was a planned conference, Habitat X, but it has been postponed until Spring 2014 because of enrollment

“There was three other major conferences that were booked at the same time as the Habitat X conference, and that is the reason why there was such low enrollment, otherwise there is usually a good amount of people in attendance,” said Bruce Greenstein, professor of Energy Systems Technology Management.

This event is still going to happen and the schedule has no changes. The same guest speakers will still be at the conference.  The first day is mainly for students, faculty, and graduates and the rest of the conference is open to working professionals.

“We are going to market differently and by word of mouth because this is a personal event,” said Greenstein.

Habitat X is a specialized conference in design building and that is how they are going to engage students with innovative technology as well as working professionals who attend this conference.

The conference is going to provide students with opportunities to network with people in the industry of sustainable housing and solar renewal.

Students will benefit from networking with top leaders in the industry and learn about building science and the ’emerging technologies’.

“Chris Dorsi (founder of Habitat X) is bringing experts to the conference from this industry to empower and transform professional development,” said Greenstein.

Students will get to expand their horizons and this is an opportunity to network with people in this industry.

“We have not committed to having the conference on campus or when but it would be great to have it there,” said Chris Dorsi.

Last year in December for the Habitat X a third of the attendees were students and faculty according to Dorsi, and it was a very successful event.

The conference is going to provide students with opportunities to network with people in the industry of sustainable housing and solar renewal and excel in these careers such as construction science.

Students will really benefit from networking with top leaders in the industry and learn about building science and the ’emerging technologies’.
