Two Oceana High School graduates were killed in a car crash in San Francisco on Saturday, September 4.
19-year-old Robby Macam and 20-year-old Nick Sarmiento were killed when their Honda collided with a Toyota at around 10:30 pm while travelling on Lake Merced Boulevard, north of John Muir Drive, San Francisco Police Officer Albie Esparza said.
Emergency responders had to cut the roof off the Honda to gain access to Macam and Sarmiento. Both were pronounced dead on the scene.
All three occupants of the Toyota were sent to intensive care. All three have been released, said the SFPD.
Friends and family attended a vigil for the two on Sunday September 12, at Duggan Sierra Mortuary.
Both Macam and Sarmiento graduated from Oceana as part of the class of ‘08. Macam was also a student at Skyline.
“I see them like brothers,” said friend and classmate Anthony Cox. “We first met in 2006, and graduated in the same class.” Cox said.
Cox said that he always knew Macam and Sarmiento as dancers at Oceana High. He said that the three of them were very close.
“We always have to keep our heads up high,” said Cox. “If we do that, we will do fine.”
