The award winning, student-run newspaper of Skyline College has reached another milestone, by embracing a 40-year-old technology.
The Skyline View is now online, bringing news, information and opinions to a wider audience through the additional medium of the internet.
In its 10th volume, this bi-weekly newspaper attracts 2000 readers, and through the online edition, will most likely attract more.
“Although we were a bit late, being on the web will allow us to provide news and other stories to a wider audience,” Web Editor Chris Choi said. “We will also be able to, not only present a copy of the printed articles (online), but to have more stories using a different method that is just not possible with a printed version, due largely to the limitation of space.”
Teaming up College Publisher Inc., The Skyline View will be able to present a variety of features to its readers. Ranging from campus news articles to syndicated news from around the globe. From Skyline College special events to movie listings, local weather report to daily horoscopes.
There will also be interactive features for students and staff alike to take part in, such as online polls and message boards. The View will also eventually have streaming audio and video segments available for site viewers to watch and listen to.
“There’s going to be something on our site for everyone,” Jonathan Dipratna, Skyline View opinions editor said.
